Leading Experts to Give Keynote Speeches at Largest Integrative Pain Management Conference

San Diego, California - The Academy of Integrative Pain Management (AIPM) has announced the speakers and topics for five Keynote Speeches during their 28th Annual Meeting in San Diego, California October 19-22, 2017.
“We’re proud to have experts at the forefront of pain treatment and research to share best practices and to lead discussions about a team-centered, patient-focused approach to caring for people with pain,” says AIPM’s executive director and national pain management leader Bob Twillman, PhD. “With 100 million people experiencing chronic pain in the U.S., and the opioid epidemic an ever-present threat, education about integrative methods and safe prescribing are needed now more than ever.”
The organization’s annual conference brings together 1,000+ clinicians across disciplines, including MDs and DOs, naturopathic physicians, behavioral health specialists, registered nurses and nurse practitioners, pharmacists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and more who are encouraged to collaborate and share clinical experiences with each other. Sessions are interactive and focused on practical techniques that can be used in practice immediately.
This year’s keynote talks will be:

- Pain in the Brain with VS Ramachandran, MD, PhD
- The Science, Politics and Medicine of Medical Cannabis for Chronic Pain with Mark Wallace, MD
- Preventing Clinician Suicide with W. Clay Jackson, MD, DipTh and incoming President of AIPM
- Changing Mindsets to Enhance Pain Treatment Effectiveness with Beth D. Darnall, PhD
Other conference highlights include the opportunity to earn a Certificate in Nutritional Pain Management; a six-hour course on safe – and legal -- opioid prescribing; demonstrations of cutting-edge pain management technology and devices; daily morning group exercises; a meeting of the Integrative Pain Care Policy Congress; and much more.
